Alejandra Velazquez

Alejandra is a first-generation Mexican-American, born and raised in Houston. Coming from a huge family and being one of the oldest kids, she developed a natural inclination to support the holistic needs of children. She decided to pursue her studies at Washington University in St. Louis, double majoring in International & Area Studies and Elementary Education while also obtaining her Missouri teacher certification. After graduation, Alejandra has taken various roles within the education field, most recently as an ESL Paraprofessional at KIPP Texas Public Schools. Alejandra now seeks to become an advocate for education access and to provide a supporting hand for underrepresented populations pursuing higher education, particularly those who are first-generation or low-income students. In her spare time, you can find her refining her embroidery skills or catching up with the latest reality tv shows.
