Why did you choose a career in education?
Growing up, I always thought I’d be a lawyer. But my time as a Teacher Fellow and School Year teacher with Breakthrough during college truly changed my life’s trajectory.  Seeing the impact that I was able to have on students and more importantly, the impact they had on me, I knew being an educator was what I was destined to do.

What’s your favorite part about working with students?
My favorite part of working with students is watching them grow into brilliant, idealistic, and resilient young people ready to take on the world.  Our students are our future.  The opportunity to be part of shaping it is truly amazing.

What do you hope to achieve with Breakthrough?
As a Program Director, I hope to provide the support and guidance to our nation’s future educators and education advocates.  I hope to allow students, who grew up like me, the opportunity to go to the best high schools and colleges our nation has to provide.  I aim to develop an empowered group of young people who know that they have the tools, ability, and knowledge to change the world for the better.

Why is Breakthrough’s mission important?
Breakthrough’s mission is important because all students regardless of where they come from, who they know, or how much money they have deserve the opportunity to achieve the goals they work so hard for.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Every day is a blessing.  The opportunity to bring joy into the world and make even one person’s day a little better is what gets me out of bed each morning.
